Change Starts with Continuous Improvement
At Bushwick, we understand the importance of caring for our planet and actively take steps to reduce our carbon footprint and improve every environment in which we do business. Not just for the climate, but also for people.
For years, we’ve worked to adopt emerging farming practices and new technology that makes us more efficient and sustainable, but we’ve also undertaken a yearlong effort to benchmark each of our growing operations and facilities to establish a baseline for continuous improvement. Those efforts are marked against transportation, waste, packaging, nature, and energy.
We take great pride in our on farm conservation programs that include low till options, habitat conservation, integrated pest management systems and pollinator programs. We also utilize field mapping technology and soil testing to reduce our pesticide use.
To further reduce our energy and carbon footprint, we’ve worked to reduce fuel emissions by implementing updated logistics software that helps us create the most direct transportation paths, move to electric forklifts and include more solar powered energy.

Waste continues to be a worldwide problem. We recycle as much of our waste as possible, including all of our unsaleable potatoes so we can limit the amount of landfill waste we generate. We are also actively working on packaging solutions that reduce our total plastic used while moving toward a fully recyclable or compostable packaging option.
The Bushwick team is always searching for new ways to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing fuel emissions, energy usage, and waste, and working with partners that have the same values. We embrace the opportunity to make a difference for our customers, for your consumers, and for the world.
